These cinematographers’ work is brilliant, powerful, inspiring, and all too often thankless. They, as well as many others, have taken the bare bones of a film and dressed it in dazzling aesthetic energy, have taken light and shaped it in ways never before seen, have taken a lens and captured not only stunning images, but our imaginations as well.

In a crowded market of emerging cinematographers, Bradford Young stands alone. If you’re unfamiliar with Young and his work, you only need to glance at his IMDb page to know that he’s the real deal. In the past five years, Young has lensed some of the most stunningly beautiful indie features to hit the mainstream, including Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, A Most Violent Year, and most recently, Oscar-winner Selma.

Cinematographer Shane Hurlbut, A.S.C., and AMC have joined forces for the highly-anticipated show Into the Badlands, shot on EPIC DRAGON and WEAPON®. The series is an adaption of the 16th century novel by Wu Cheng’en entitled, “Journey to the West,” and follows a martial artist and his companion as they search for enlightenment in a territory controlled by feudal barons.
